Guide to Foundation

Heey,

So today I wanted to share a few tips that I have for picking the perfect foundation. I know that I won't know what every foundation in the world will be like on your skin but I have a few drugstore ones that I would say are good for some skin types, more than others (?).

I have normal - oily skin and some days it's oilier than others but I just wear more powder or use a foundation that would work better with my face at the time.

Dry Skin

I don't have dry skin but I know that there are quite a few foundations that would be good for those skin types. The first isn't really a foundation, more like a tinted primer but it's the Baby Skin by Maybelline. I've heard so many great things about this product and I have heard that it's very moisturizing which would be great for dry skin types, but they say it's suitable for everyone. I have tested this on the back of my hand and I think that it would very nourishing and softening but I don't think it would suit oily skin as much as it would suit dry skin.

Normal Skin

I'm very jealous of people with normal skin. Normal skin types can use most foundations, but there are some that are best for normal skin. There are 2 brands that in my opinion do foundation/s that would suit any skin type and they are Rimmel and Maybelline. I would say Rimmel for Wake Me Up and Match Perfection then Maybelline for Fit Me and Dream Matte Mouse/Dream Satin Liquid. I think that those 4/5 foundations are the best all-rounders, in the drugstore.

Oily skin

I haven't heard of many foundations that are meant specifically for oily skin apart from the mattifying foundations such as Rimmel - Stay Matte however, I've never tried it before so you might want to look up a review; but I know a few tips that will make you appear less oily.
Tip 1: Use an oil balancing cleansing wipes or face washes. Simple do quite a few ranges of skin types, for example, spotty skin and oily skin and I find that their oil balancing products do a make a big difference. My friend Zoe has the face wash and I have the wipes and we both think that it's really good on the skin.
Tip 2: Use a primer so that your foundation stays on for longer. This is a great tip because sometimes, I find that my foundation is fine when I put it on and then when I get home after say, school or shopping, it's mostly fallen off and it's not because it was raining or it just wasn't a good foundation, it was because the oil made my skin almost like a stick free pan!
Tip 3: Don't use very thin or moisturizing foundation. This is because it will make your skin every more oily. Also, very thin foundation will be very hard to buff in and it will come off quicker during the day. However, this doesn't mean not using a moisturizer at all!

Spring & Summer

Tip 1: During the summer make sure you wear a foundation that will suit your tanned skin tone. Don't use the same foundation as you wore in the winter months.
Tip 2: There are a lot of foundations that will have no SPF in them, make sure that you get one with at least SPF 12 because foundation on its own doesn't protect you from the sun.
Tip 3: Light coverage is OK. During the summer you won't want to wear a heavy foundation, because you don't need it as much in the Summer plus, if you go to the beach a lot then all your make up will come off anyway, in the sea.

Autumn & Winter

As you might know, in the Winter you need to take extra care because your skin gets dryer in the Winter and nobody wants dry skin!
Tip 1: When choosing your Winter foundation, make sure that it is the right match for you because in winter, your natural tan goes away :(
Tip 2: Take your skin type a step lower; oily goes to normal, normal goes to dry and dry stays the same but use extra moisturizer.
Tip 3: You might want a fuller coverage because your skin is more prone to spots in the Winter than in the Summer.

I hope this helps you chose the right foundation for you! Please subscribe for more beauty posts and comment what you would like to see next on my blog.

Tanya Burr Nail Polish: Little Duck

Heey,

You may know that Tanya Burr recently released a line of lip glosses and nail vanishes, if not, then you must be living under a rock! They were released onto the feel unique website and everyone went crazy for them! Mine was delivered last week and I couldn't wait until half term to start wearing it.

The lip glosses looked really nice but I didn't order any because I'm not really a lip gloss person, I prefer matte lips, but when they are released in Superdrug, I might buy one. I did, however, buy a nail polish because I have been quite obsessed with nail polishes over the past month or so. I loved all the colours and names so it was really hard to decide which one I wanted. In the end, I settled on Little Duck which is an amazing pastel, mint/green colour which is so amazing for spring.

The name is so cute and the packaging is very nice too. It's got amazing pigmentation and the applicator is surprisingly good. It stays on for ages but I would suggest a top coat to make it shiny. It doesn't chip easily at all, unless you wear trying to pick it off, but I don't know why you would want to! However, it's very easy to take off and doesn't stain your nails like some polishes I have used in the past.

The nail polish wasn't expensive but wasn't cheap , it was £5.99 which is the most that I've paid for a nail polish but I tend to go with Barry M and Rimmel rather than Essie or Sally Hanson. With postage and packaging it came to a total of £7.50 so not too bad but I could have paid 49p more for an Essie nail polish!

LUSH, Superdrug and Primark Haul

Heey,

If you are in school then you may be experiencing half term (like myself) however, if you have left school then you probably experiencing more children running around town and taking up all the cinema seats. I'm sorry.

I hope that my friends and I are not those type of people. I think that when I was last away from school, everyday for a week, I went in town. The reason I didn't say shopping was because at the end of the week, I didn't have any money left and I was basically just window shopping :(.

The first place we (Zoe, Ambs and I) went was obviously LUSH.

LUSH

I went to LUSH to buy a new bubble bar because I'd run out of bubble bars but still had a few bath bombs. I wanted to get one that I hadn't had before. But almost all the ones I like, I've had before apart from The Comforter and Amandopondo, which are the other 2 that I would like to purchase and the rest I'm not sure I like the smell of. So I bought Dorothy as it was quite a nice smell and I loved the bright colours and design.

LUSH say: The gorgeous vivid blue of Dorothy turns your bath a dark shade of aquamarine to brighten your mood. Ylang ylang has a sensual, sweet scent that's used by aromatherapists to improve your mood, while the intensely floral, heady orange flower is also used to lift the spirits - and is a reputed aphrodisiac.                         I'm not quite sure what that means.

Primark

I have no clothes. Slight exaggeration, I do have clothes, quite a lot, but it's mainly summer tops that are way to thin to ware in 'Winter'. So I obviously went and bought ANOTHER short sleeved t-shirt *palm-to-face*. I don't regret buying it because I do love it but it was a bit of a silly move. It was £5 and very good quality for Primark. It's grey with rolled up sleeves and it has ice creams and lolly pops all over it to get me in the summer mood even though as i'm writing this it's all of 6 degrees outside!

*please excuse my bedroom and posters*

Superdrug

I didn't own anything from Sleek, until I went shopping. I was going to buy the eye shadow palette but after buying the bubble bar and top, I didn't have enough for that, but I did have enough for a blusher. I didn't know which one I wanted but I knew that they were all very pretty, wearable and pigmented. I decided that Flushed was my favourite one they had in stock. It's a more red-y pink than a coral or baby pink but I love that because my other blusher I have is by MUA and it's a more baby pink. I also know that this is a very nice spring cheek colour when it's blended out. I also love the packaging and it feels really expensive but it's only £4.49!

Ohh how very blogger of me with the camera in the mirror ;) P.S please excuse the fingerprint
That's all I bought for today's haul. I now have no more money for the rest of the week :(

LUSH Review: Yuzu and Cocoa & Father Christmas

Heey,

A few weeks ago I had a bath and used Yuzu and Cocoa & Father Christmas which are both LUSH products. I also used a face mask that I got for £1 at Primark, this is a peal off one and I believe it was blackberry and aloe. As well as these things I also added Nivea harmony time shower cream (yes, I know it's for the shower) which I added to running water to make it moisturizing and creamy.

Father Christmas is a bath ballistic and it's in the Christmas range so only available in December time. The inside is a blue-y green colour and that's the colour your water turns after about a minute. The outside of the ballistic is a pink-y peach colour with white details (eyebrows, beard and moustache). This white detailing causes a few bubbles and makes the water very soft and creamy.
Yuzu and Cocoa is a 'Bubbleroon' which is basically a really soft bubble bar. I used this product a while ago and I loved it so much that I bought another one! The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is my favourite one from LUSH and I wish that there were more products in this smell. This bubbleroon is orange and they come in 2 other 'flavors' the first is Green and the other is 'Rose Jam'. They all have two balls of the product and to join them up there is a creamy type formula. Thankfully, this product is available all year round :D

Adding the water to half of Yuzu and Cocoa when I had broken it up underneath the taps.

This is when I added Father Christmas.

I love this combo of products, I think it made my water look nice and the room smelt amazing after my bath! I would give this bath 7.5/10 because the colour was a bit strange and the bath bomb did go quite quickly!

What I've been loving!

Heey,

I don't think that I have uploaded a monthly favourites video in a while. So instead of doing just a January favourites, I thought that I would do an overall 'Things I've been loving' so I have decided that today I would make a massive thing of amazing stuff :D

Fashion

I haven't really been getting a lot of new clothes recently so there isn't much in this 'section' but I did get some really soft 'lounging bottoms' which are basically just comfy Christmas leggings that I just walk around the house in when I get home from school. I really like them, I think they have a cute pattern but I do know a few people don't like them but no one by me and my parents really see them so it doesn't matter, plus, I like them and I don't care what other people think ;)
They were a Christmas present from my elderly neighbours and they also bought me a really nice top/jumper with a collar made of lace and [fake] pearls. They are both from Primark and I think that the leggings were £10 and the top was £12. BTW, is it just me, or is Primark getting more expensive?

I've also been wearing my woolen beanie a lot. I'm not sure if it's a bobble hat or a beanie because it does have a bobble on the end but it could still be classed as a beanie (?). This was also a Christmas present from my friend Zoƫ and I love it! The hat was from New Look and I picked it out myself, it is cream and baby pink with a woven pattern running through it. Incredibly comfy and cute!

Make Up

Again, not many new products but some great ones none-the-less! One new thing that I have bought was a new foundation, it is from Seventeen and it's the Sheer Moisture foundation with SPF 15 in Light. I use this for school because it has a light coverage but gives my skin moisture. For some reason when I walked into Boots I saw a display that showed a few products from No.7 and Seventeen. The reason that I bought this foundation is because it was £6 down to £1. ONE POUND!!! How amazing is that! There was nothing wrong with it, it was perfectly new, so I bought it and I'm very glad that I did.

The second product is also quite new and skin related, it's the Wake Me Up concealer in Ivory. I love this concealer so much. I know that people prefer different concealers for different reasons but this is the best one I've tried. I love that this concealer gives great coverage under the eye and brightens my face in the morning so I don't look like a walking zombie! I have the matching foundation but I find that that is more for summer than winter so I'll use that more in the future.

Finally for Make Up I have my MAC eye shadow in Satin Taupe. I love this eye shadow so much, I think it's amazing and a very wearable colour. Many beauty bloggers (and vloggers) rave about this and I can see why! I got this eye shadow a couple of months back and I really loved it then, but I got it in the Summer so I wasn't at school and was wearing eye shadow more frequently but then I went back to school and at the weekends I didn't really bother with eye shadow and what-not but recently I have rediscovered it's amazingness. Satin Taupe is a frost eye shadow which means that has a slight shimmer but not so much that it isn't natural.

Music

For some reason I've been listening to a lot more music recently, but my iPod has broken so I can't really listen to music on that and I have a really rubbish Blackberry Curve and it won't let me download my own music or any from YouTube or any other websites, which is annoying. But I have created a YouTube playlist and added all of my favourite songs at the moment and this is what I found on there: (In no particular order)

1) Boys in Books are better - Carrie Hope Fletcher

2) The 2013 Song - Troye Sivan

3) Love is on the Radio - McFly

4) Half a Heart - One Direction

5) Does He Know - One Direction

6) Don't Forget Where You Belong - One Direction

7) Strong - One Direction

8) Through the Dark - One Direction

9) Midnight Memories - One Direction

10) Little Black Dress - One Direction

11) Little White Lies - One Direction

12) My Thoughts on Google+ - Emma Blackery

13) The 2012 Song - Troye Sivan

14) Royals - Lorde

15) Wayfaring Stranger - Ed Sheeran

As you can see I am a bit of a One Direction fan, but since their new album, Midnight Memories, I have been listening to their music non-stop. I don't have the album which makes me very sad but I will hopefully get it sooner rather than later.

Carrie Hope Fletcher, Troye Sivan and Emma Blackery are all YouTubers and I love all of their video's. I've already talked about Carrie to you and I will link that HERE.

Random

Instagram. If you don't have it already you must be living under a rock because it is a very popular social-media app that is available on the App Store for free :) but it's different from the others because you share pictures with captions and you can comment and like pictures. I have made a new account which is more cute and girly with, thankfully, no selfies or anything like that, juts beauty products and things I love :D

Fairy Lights. I have 2 sets of fairy lights in my room and I would love to have more but I can't find any nice fairy lights that are cheap-ish. I would love to have them wound around my bed frame by my head *ohhhTheTumblr* but I would need to have battery charged ones because there isn't a socket there :( I do have some at the end of my bed and I bought them from Poundland and I really like them but because I have have plug them in when ever I want to turn it on and take it out when I want to turn it off then it becomes annoying to use. The other set that I have isn't really a set, it's just s bundle of real or fake (I can't tell) twigs with some fairy lights wound around it. Sounds weird but I put it in a cute china holder type thing and  think it looks really cute :)

That's all for today, sorry I didn't post on Saturday, I thought I had one scheduled but obviously not. Please comment what you would like me to post about next :D

Hugs and kisses
